My country code seems...wrong?
"Why does my tax return say I live in SZ? That is Swaziland!" Not for the IRS it isn't. We get asked this all the time as nervous taxpayers think their mail will end up not only in the wrong address, but in the wrong country.
Fear not --- the IRS E-file codes are not the same as globally accepted country codes. Tax software is calibrated to the IRS list (below)
Example: For IRS purposes SZ is the country code for Switzerland. AU does not refer to Australia, but to Austria.
